Enhancing Employment with the Youth in mind.

By May 23, 2017News

PROWEB has observed that over the past years, a significant portion of young women in Zimbabwe are remaining unemployed for long periods even when they have higher education qualifications. At first glance, it may seem as if the struggles of the young women university students end as soon as they graduate. This has been attributed to the mismatch between the skills being developed by the training system and what is needed in the labour market. It is against this background that PROWEB in collaboration with its partners implemented a training program aimed at building and strengthening the capacity of young women with the necessary skills to enter and remain in the labour market.

The Life Skills Training Program focused on: Interviews, Curriculum/ Career Development, Presentation Skills, Grooming & Etiquette, Goal Setting Leadership, Assertiveness, Confidence, Communication and Reporting Skills, Sexual Harassment at the workplace.

After going through the training the young women were attached to season and experienced professional women and men for work related experience, internships job placement and mentoring. PROWEB is proud to say that through this program it has trained and empowered over 260 youths and have managed to place over 100 youths with different employers in private, public and NGO sector. Due to the hard-work shown by the trained youths, some of them have transitioned into full time employment with very good packages and employers are impressed.

We would like to say thank you to all who contributed to the successful implementation of the project. We therefore invite more organisations to join us and partner with us in alleviating unemployment and producing a competent workforce.

Here are highlights of some of the youths that were placed for internships;
